NICU Initiatives

We partner with hospitals, neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), and families to improve the NICU experience through resources designed to advance communication, collaboration, and partnership between families, healthcare organizations, and March of Dimes.
2023 March of Dimes NICU

Every baby and family deserves the best possible start. For many, that journey begins in the NICU due to preterm birth, birth defects, surgical or genetic conditions, or other diagnoses. During this difficult time, March of Dimes NICU Initiatives provides families with compassionate support and trusted education—helping them navigate the NICU experience and improve outcomes.

NICU Family Support

Since 2001, our NICU Family Support® program has partnered with hospitals across the country to educate NICU staff and support families through evidence-based programs and online and in-person resources while babies are in the NICU and during their transition home.

NICU parent education

We offer educational booklets for families with a baby in the NICU. They cover topics on what families can expect during their first days in the NICU, ways they can be with their baby, getting ready to go home, and caring for their baby at home. This educational content is written in supportive language and available in both English and Spanish. The booklets are available for purchase by hospitals only on our March of Dimes catalog.
