Delta Sigma Theta Sorority INC
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and March of Dimes officially established a partnership in 2013. The purpose of the collaboration is to work in cooperation with one another for the campaign against prematurity and to achieve health equity. This is particularly important because the rate of premature birth has increased for the fourth consecutive year in the United States and the racial/ethnic disparities in preterm birth rates are worse than ever. With the partnership, members of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. participate in a host of activities such as fundraising for March for Babies, engaging in various awareness events especially in the month of November to commemorate Prematurity Awareness Month, and educating members as well as the community about mental health/post-partum depression, etc.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded in 1913 at Howard University. The sorority is predominately Black college educated women with both a national and global presence focused on providing assistance and support through established programs in local communities and throughout the world.
