What happens during a prenatal test
Prenatal tests are medical test you get during pregnancy. They help your health care provider find out how you and your baby are doing. Some tests are for all pregnant women.
Others are tests you may want to get if:
- You have certain medical conditions, like cystic fibrosis or sickle cell disease.
- You’re at risk for having a baby with certain birth defects or genetic conditions, like Down syndrome.
Talk to your provider about which tests are right for you.
