This year's Report Card offers a comprehensive overview of the health of moms and babies across the United States. The report provides updated preterm birth rates and grades for the U.S., all states, Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico. It includes information on other health indicators such as infant mortality, leading causes of infant death, and maternal mortality while also tracking progress towards important policy solutions that can improve health. March of Dimes reports on maternity care access includes the Nowhere to Go: Maternity Care Deserts Across the US national report and the Where You Live Matters: Maternity Care Deserts and the Crisis of Access and Equity state level reports. Both provide a comprehensive look at factors that impact access to maternity care in all 50 states, D.C. and Puerto Rico. Using the most current data, each report includes data on counties where there are no birthing facilities or obstetric clinicians (maternity care deserts), as well as other factors such as the distance women travel to a hospital at the time of birth, the availability of health insurance and current policy recommendations to improve access to care. The reports can provide insight into where resources may be needed to help birthing people and their infants and reduce preventable complications during pregnancy, at the time of delivery and postpartum.

The Prematurity Profile provides the most up-to-date data on state and national-level prematurity indicators. This report goes in depth by presenting prematurity trends, data by race/ethnicity and showing what percent of births are premature in your state. This report includes and supplements that data with additional state-level information on the number of babies born with birth defects and an estimated number of infant deaths attributed to birth defects.
