Flu Shot (PRAMS)
Pregnant and postpartum women are at greater risk for severe illness from Influenza (the flu). The flu vaccine has been shown to reduce the risk of acute respiratory infection from the flu by almost 50% and can be safely given to women during any trimester of pregnancy or before becoming pregnant. The CDC and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) recommend unvaccinated pregnant women get the flu shot to protect themselves and their baby for the first several months after their birth, before they are old enough to get vaccinated.
