• Persons in poverty are defined as those who make less than 100% of the poverty threshold established by the US Census Bureau. The poverty threshold for a family of three was $18,552 in 2013, $18,850 in 2014 and $18,871 in 2015. 
• During 2013-2015 (average), about 1 in 4 children under the age of 19 (27.0%) in Alabama were living in families with incomes below the Federal Poverty Level.
