Featuring Honorary Chair, Guy Gordon

Monday, August 12, 2024  |  7 a.m.
Saint John's Resort
44045 Five Mile Road, Plymouth, MI 48170

Come out to tee up a great start for moms, babies & families!

Join Guy Gordon and WJR at The Cardinal at Saint John’s Resort - one of the region’s most beautiful championship courses - for an exclusive outing to benefit  March of Dimes. Together we can end preventable maternal health risks and death, end preterm birth, and close the health equity gap for every family. Now in its 43rd year, this event has raised nearly $5 million since its beginning.

March of Dimes is fighting every day for the health of all moms and babies. We believe that every baby deserves the best possible start. Unfortunately, not all babies get one. We are changing that. From advocacy to education to research, we're working to level the playing field so that all moms and babies are healthy. Because when a society supports every family, the future is brighter for us all. And when communities work together even the toughest problems can be solved.

SUPPORT THE MISSION

  • Join us for our 43rd Annual Golf Classic to raise critical funds that help us fight factors that lead to poor birthing outcomes in Detroit and Southeast Michigan.
  • Advocate to prioritize the health of moms and babies, invest in cutting-edge research and provide local programs so that all parents, babies and their families are healthy and strong.
  • Help us be there for families, particularly those in need, through advocacy, programs and partnerships aimed at reducing preterm birth and ending the health equity gap.

Why support the March of Dimes?

  • Each year thousands of moms and babies deal with complications from pregnancy and preterm birth.
  • More than 700 women die each year from pregnancy-related causes, and the CDC reports that 60 percent are preventable.
  • Cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of maternal death in the U.S. and can contribute to health problems later in life.
  • Studies show that an increasing number of pregnant people in the U.S. have chronic health conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and chronic heart disease. These conditions may put a person at higher risk of complications during pregnancy or in the year postpartum.
  • In Michigan, socioeconomic determinants particularly – such as access to healthcare, insurance, and healthy food – contribute to chronic health issues and make moms and babies more vulnerable to poor birth outcomes.
  • Management and early intervention of medical conditions before, during, and after pregnancy can reduce maternal health issues and lead to better outcomes for mom and baby. Awareness of signs and symptoms after delivery could lead to a reduction in maternal death and illness.
