OUR MISSION STORY

In 2012, after 2.5 years of fertility surgeries and treatments, we found out we were FINALLY pregnant with our first children, twin boys. The pregnancy itself went smoothly until the start of my 23rd week, when my sons Sawyer & Tristan were born without warning. We were told over and over that a 23 week baby had low chances of survival, but prayed for a miracle. Six days after they were born, Sawyer & Tristan passed away in our arms in the NICU with our doctors and nurses surrounding us, in love.

Losing Sawyer & Tristan was the most painful moment of our lives by far, but we consider those 6 days that we were able to be their parents as the greatest gift we have ever been given. That gift of 6 days with our sons was only made possible by the research and development of The March of Dimes, and the Pulmonary Surfactant that they helped develop in 1990.

I truly believe that with your commitment we’re getting closer to a world where no parent has to experience what we did. Our sincerest gratitude goes out to you for showing up and helping hundreds of thousands of families who, like us, have been personally affected by the work of March of Dimes. Thank you.
