March of Dimes Volunteer Competes to Win $100,000 Award
Help Don Post of Kansas Win for Moms and Babies
Overland Park, Kansas — Friday, October 11, 2013
Longtime March of Dimes volunteer Don Post has been selected as one of four finalists for the 2013 NASCAR Foundation Betty Jane France Humanitarian Award. If Don wins, he will donate the $100,000 prize to the March of Dimes, the charity of his choice. The winner will be the candidate with the most public votes received between October 1 and midnight, December 5, 2013. The three runners-up will get a $25,000 donation for their charity. The March of Dimes urges everyone to help Don in his quest to win money to fund research and other programs for moms and babies by casting a vote online at nascar.com/award. The contest rules permit one vote each day.
The Betty Jane France Humanitarian award is given annually to one dedicated NASCAR fan who has made a substantial contribution for children by volunteering their time and talents within their community. Each finalist also receives a VIP at-track NASCAR experience during the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup at Kansas, Talladega, Martinsville and Texas.
“Don is that rare volunteer who has the ability to impact your life,” says Abby Wolcott of the March of Dimes. “When I began my career at the March of Dimes, Don was on my event logistics committee and was my volunteer coordinator. He kept me sane, became my mentor, and then my friend. He’s one of the reasons I’m still working with the March of Dimes today. Don is in the very late stages of ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also referred to as Lou Gehrig's disease) but he powers through and does it anyway because he is so passionate about the March of Dimes. Please help Don in his effort to give more babies a healthy start in life by voting for him every day.”

About The March of Dimes
In 2013, the March of Dimes celebrates its 75th Anniversary and its ongoing work to help babies get a healthy start in life. About 4 million babies are born each year in the United States, and all have benefitted from March of Dimes lifesaving research and education.
The March of Dimes is the leading non-profit organization for pregnancy and baby health. With chapters nationwide and its premiere event, March for Babies©, the March of Dimes works to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
