Annual March of Dimes® Benefit
Lowell, MA, September 23, 2015 —
On Thursday, October 8th at Lenzi’s, top chefs will offer diners an opportunity to enjoy a great night out while raising funds, making friends and increasing awareness of the March of Dimes mission to improve the health of babies.
In addition to sampling signature dishes, and an unforgettable auction, the March of Dimes is proud to present the 2015 Citizen of the Year award to Terrence and Kathleen McCarthy.
“The McCarthy’s personal care of babies and children in the community makes them a natural selection for this prestigious March of Dimes award. They have been instrumental in the Lowell community and are a great addition to the past Citizens of the Year honorees who include: Ziggy Burns, Senator Eileen Donoghue, Bob Caruso and the Lowell Five, Drew Weber and Nancy Donahue” says Lowell Chairperson, Sue Zacharer.
Participating chefs include: Ricardo’s, Athenian Corner, Lenzi’s, 110 Grill, Chowder Factory, UTEC, Catering by Erin McMahon, Cavaliero’s, Cobblestones/Moonstones, Grazie’s at Four Oaks, Orange Leaf, Owen & Ollie’s, and Frederick’s Pastries.
“What better way to enjoy a wonderful meal than by supporting the March of Dimes mission and working together for stronger, healthier babies, right here in Lowell,” said Event Chair and President of Mill City Environmental Corporation Brian Chapman.
Funds raised by Signature Chefs Auction support lifesaving research and educational programs in Massachusetts. Recently March of Dimes funded Centering Pregnancy to initiate group prenatal care in order to make care more patient and community centered.
“I can’t think of a more important cause than our babies,” said Bob Caruso, Chairman at Lowell Five Bank and presenting sponsor. “We are proud to support the March of Dimes and their work for moms and babies.”
Premature birth is the number one killer of babies. It affects more than half a million babies nationwide each year. The March of Dimes is committed to reversing this trend by funding research to find the causes of premature birth and developing strategies to prevent it.
The March of Dimes thanks Signature Chefs Auction sponsors: Lowell Five Bank, SABIS, Circle Health, Enterprise Bank, Trinity EMS, Mill City Environmental, Madison Security Group, Inc., Lowell Spinners, and Washington Savings Bank.
The March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health. With chapters nationwide, the March of Dimes works to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
