Parsagen Diagnostics Helps Launch 2016 Boston March for Babies

Boston, MA, March 16, 2016 —

Nearly half a million babies will be born prematurely this year -- and Parsagen Diagnostics wants to help change this.

The people of Parsagen Diagnostics know the importance of the March of Dimes’ work to help moms and babies.  Parsagen Diagnostics is the manufacturer of the PartoSure™ Test, a revolutionary tool in the fight against prematurity.

Parsagen Diagnostics Co-Founder and CEO, Ruben F Salinas is professionally and personally connected to the cause after having a premature baby 10 years ago – after a week in the newborn intensive care unit (NICU), Natalia was finally able to go home to her family. After her birth, Salinas made a promise to dedicate his life’s work to advancing medical technology in the field of prematurity.

“March for Babies is the premier fundraising event for the March of Dimes and the ultimate way for us to directly support the research and education that will help put an end to prematurity,” said Ruben F Salinas, Co-Founder & CEO of Parsagen Diagnostics.  “Our organization is part of the over 200 researchers looking for causes and ways to prevent prematurity. Supporting this is my personal mission, as well as our company’s and we are excited to rally our community around this important work.”

March for Babies, the March of Dimes largest fundraiser, helps fund lifesaving research and educational programs aimed at helping moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies and healthy babies. Last year, the Boston event raised more than $800,000 – this year, Parsagen Diagnostics hopes to help bring in even more by setting a goal of raising $70,000.

“Seldom does a cause have as universal of a following as does the fight against prematurity – the March for Babies gives us a unique opportunity to come together as a community to march for those who do not have the chance to,” said Anthony Ausiello, Co-Founder & VP of Parsagen Diagnostics. “9.3% of our babies here in Boston are born prematurely, and that’s just not acceptable.  Our community has to work together to give more babies a healthy start in life.”

Massachusetts residents can sign up today at marchforbabies.org and start a team with co-workers, family or friends. Last year, more than 5,000 people attended the event, which will be held this year on May 7th at DCR’s Hatch Shell.

“We’re so excited to have Parsagen Diagnostics to help with March for Babies,” said Ed Doherty, Executive Director for the Boston-Manchester Market of the March of Dimes. “Their passion for the cause and commitment to helping our babies will be a huge driving factor in the success of our event. We are grateful for the time and support they’re able to lend us.”
