Help Acknowledge Our Unsung Heroes for Washington Nurse of the Year Awards
Seattle, WA, August 26, 2015 —
If you have been touched by the work and caring of an exceptional nurse submit a nomination and join us in recognizing these caregivers whose extraordinary efforts stand out. The March of Dimes Washington Chapter is celebrating its 13th year in honoring the best and brightest of our local nurses for the Washington Nurse of the Year Awards. Nominations for these exceptional nurses will be accepted statewide. The event, which will be held on Friday, November 13 at the Meydenbauer Conference Center, is presented by Premera Blue Cross.
The 2015 Nurse of the Year Event Chair is Peg Currie, regional chief nursing and clinical officer, MA, BSN, RN, NEA-BC with Providence Health Care. “I truly believe in the value nursing brings to patient care,” said Currie. “I consider it an honor to serve in this role, and I am thrilled that the March of Dimes will recognize many of the gifted nurses that contribute tremendously to our community.”
Currie has been involved in nursing leadership activities for more than 20 years. She has served as a Pro-Tem member for the Washington State Nursing Quality Care Commission, is an adjunct faculty member of the Washington State College of Nursing, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Northwest Organization of Nurse Executives. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Montana State University-Bozeman and later went on to complete her Master of Organizational Leadership at Gonzaga University.
