March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction, one of Orange County’s most anticipated charity food events, takes place Thursday, October 18, 2018 at the Marriott Irvine Spectrum. The evening begins at 6:00 p.m. with an extraordinary tasting of Orange County’s most desirable cuisine, prepared and served by culinary masters from top local establishments, followed by a seated dessert program and a rousing live auction, offering an opportunity to bid on insider packages and unique experiences. The philanthropic event raises critical funds to benefit the March of Dimes’ mission to lead the fight to improve the health of all moms and babies.
This year’s Lead Chef is Chef Noah von Blöm, one of Orange County’s most innovative chefs. Chef Noah von Blöm is bringing his passion for “theatrical dining” to this year’s Signature Chefs Auction. Premier Orange County chefs will gather in teams for a unique collaboration adding their signature components to enhance the dishes. “The carefully curated menu is created for this evening only for this exclusive audience to taste the diverse culinary talent in Orange County while celebrating and supporting this great cause,” says Chef Noah von Blöm.
“We are grateful to our talented chefs who are artists, innovators and philanthropists,” says Tiffany Munson, Brand Manager of Orange Aluminum and this year’s Signature Chef Auction Orange County Chair. “Their support makes a huge difference and helps us raise critical funds and increase awareness of the maternal and infant health crisis taking place in our country.”
For returning Chef Greg Daniels, last year’s Lead Chef, this event is very personal, “While we were pregnant with our daughter, Madeleine, she was diagnosed with micrognathia, meaning her jaw was small, and her tongue was most likely rolled back and blocking her airway.” Chef Daniels continues, “Madeleine was required to stay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for over a month. Luckily for us, we were in a wonderful hospital that had a March of Dimes NICU Family Support Program. This direct service program works as a complement to the entire NICU staff and offers information and comfort to families while their baby is in the hospital and during the transition home. When you’re dealing with the emotions of a sick child, navigating hospitals and the healthcare system, and trying to maintain just a bit of sanity, having this support for you is more than words can say.”
March of Dimes is committed to working together to improve the health of every mom and baby. March of Dimes gives 4 million babies born each year the best possible start. Nearly half a million of them are born prematurely or with birth defects. Premature birth and its complications are the largest contributors to infant death in the U.S. and pregnancy-related death has more than doubled over the past 25 years. Funds raised by Signature Chefs Auction help support research, lead programs and provide education and advocacy so that every baby can have the best possible start.
Joining Chefs von Blöm and Daniels at this year’s event will be: Elios Kitchen a paleo kitchen in an airstream, Hamamori-James Hamamori, Vaca- Chef Noah von Blöm, Craft House-Blake Mellegren, and Farmhouse-Chef Rich Mead and Chef de Cuisine Allan Aguinaga.
Local sponsors supporting March of Dimes include: Silver Sponsors: Bergener Mirejovsky, Cisco, Orange Aluminum; Bronze Sponsors: Palmieri Tyler, Wells Fargo, Leadership in Heels, Squarmilner, First Foundation, Pacific Mercantile Bank.
Table of 10 for the event are $3,500. For more information, including sponsorship opportunities, visit signaturechefs.org/orangecounty or contact the March of Dimes office at 949-333-4972.
