March of Dimes will celebrate renowned chef, Nancy Silverton, for her contributions and passion for culinary excellence at the Signature Chefs Auction, one of Los Angeles’s most anticipated charity food events, which takes place Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills.

In 2014, Nancy Silverton received the highest honor given by the James Beard Foundation for “Outstanding Chef” as well as listed as one of the Most Innovative Women in Food and Drink by Fortune and Food and Wine Magazine. The philanthropic event raises critical funds to benefit the March of Dimes’ mission to lead the fight for the health of all moms and babies. The evening begins at 6:00 p.m. with an extraordinary tasting of the most desirable cuisine, prepared and served by culinary masters and rising stars from top local establishments, followed by a seated dessert program and a rousing live auction, offering an opportunity to bid on insider packages and unique experiences.

“We are grateful to work with these talented chefs who are artists, innovators and philanthropists,” says Todd Christopher, Partner at Gersh Agency and this year’s Signature Chefs Chair.

Mark Owens, CEO of Rogers and Cowan and co-chair of the event adds, “This support makes a huge difference and helps us raise much-needed funds to help address the maternal and infant health crisis taking place in our country.”

Twenty of Los Angeles’s most innovative chefs are bringing their passion to this year’s Signature Chefs Auction. “Our event is a great opportunity to experience a unique tasting of signature dishes from local rising stars and master chefs,” says Amy Dittmore, Senior Development Manager for March of Dimes Greater Los Angeles. “The carefully curated menu created for this exclusive evening is designed for the audience to taste the diverse culinary talent in Los Angeles, while celebrating and supporting this great cause.”

March of Dimes gives 4 million babies born each year the best possible start. Nearly half a million of them are born prematurely or with birth defects. Premature birth and its complications are the largest contributors to infant death in the U.S. and pregnancy-related death has more than doubled over the past 25 years. Funds raised at the Signature Chefs Auction will support research, lead programs and provide education and advocacy so that every baby can have the best possible start.

For this year’s March of Dimes Los Angeles Ambassador Family, Kristie and Michael Lacy, the event is very personal. At 19 weeks pregnant, Kristie and Michael were told there would be complications with their twins. Kristie went on immediate bedrest and stayed there until the babies were born 15 weeks early. The twins spent 103 days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Thankfully, the twins have had no long term defects. “Serving as the Ambassadors of this year’s Signature Chefs Auction is a way for us to show our gratitude for March of Dimes-funded programs that helped our twins,” says Kristie. “When you support March of Dimes, you make a statement about the world you want to live in–- one in which healthy moms and strong babies are a priority for us all.”

These talented chefs are already confirmed to support this year’s event: Holly Irvin - The Bazaar by Jose Andres; Timothy Hollingsworth – Otium; Yoya Takahashi – Hamasaku; Kevin Meehan – KALI; Jon Yao – Kato: Travis Strickland – Baltaire; Fernando Darin - Ray's & Stark Bar; Andreas Roller - Patina Restaurant; Sushi Nozawa – Sugarfish; Kyle Johnson - Bourbon Steak Los Angeles; Brendan Collins - Wilshire; Casey Lane - Viale de Romani and The Tasting Kitchen, and David Castro Hussong - Fauna.
