March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction and Gala, one of San Francisco’s most anticipated charity food events, takes place Friday, October 12, 2018 at The Ritz-Carlton. The evening begins at 5:00 p.m. with an extraordinary tasting of San Francisco’s most desirable cuisine, prepared and served by culinary masters from top local establishments, many Michelin-rated, followed by a seated dessert program and a rousing live auction, offering an opportunity to bid on exclusive Bay Area sport packages and unique celebrity experiences. The philanthropic event raises critical funds to benefit the March of Dimes’ mission to lead the fight to improve the health of all moms and babies.
“We are grateful to our talented chefs who are artists, innovators and philanthropists,” says Azizah Rowen, this year’s Signature Chefs Auction San Francisco Co-Chair. “Their support makes a huge difference and helps us raise critical funds and increase awareness of the maternal and infant health crisis taking place in our country.”
For Azizah and her husband and event co-chair, Craig, this event is very personal. The struggle with high-risk pregnancies was not new for Craig & Azizah. Still, despite several miscarriages, and many complications, they were shocked and overwhelmed when their second son, Wilder, was delivered prematurely, weighing less than four pounds—around the size of a pineapple. Too sick and too weak to go home, Wilder spent forty-nine days in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). “Serving as the Chairs of this year’s Signature Chefs Auction and Gala is a way for us to show our gratitude for March of Dimes-funded programs that helped Wilder,” says Craig. “When you support March of Dimes, you make a statement about the world you want to live in–- one in which healthy moms and strong babies are a priority for us all.”
These talented chefs are already confirmed to support this year’s event: Matthew Dolan - 25 Lusk; Donato Scotti & Gianluca Guglielmi - CENTO Osteria; Thomas Weibull - Dirty Habit; Jason Ryczek - Farallon; Ryne Dinglasan - Hard Water; Rupert & Carrie Blease - Lord Stanley; Daniel Corey - Luce; Reylon Agustin - Madera; Jason Pringle - Navio; Rupam Bhagat - Ritu Indian Soul Food; and Bart Yunker - Roy's. KTVU Anchor, Heather Holmes, returns to emcee the evening’s program.
March of Dimes is committed to working together to improve the health of every mom and baby. March of Dimes gives 4 million babies born each year the best possible start. Nearly half a million of them are born prematurely or with birth defects. Premature birth and its complications are the largest contributors to infant death in the U.S. and pregnancy-related death has more than doubled over the past 25 years. Funds raised by Signature Chefs Auction help support research, lead programs and provide education and advocacy so that every baby can have the best possible start.
Local sponsors supporting March of Dimes include: TPG, Alfresco, First Legal, KPMG and Skadden.
Table of 10 for the event are $2,500. For more information, including sponsorship opportunities, visit signaturechefs.org/sanfrancisco or contact Kellie Ryan at [email protected]
