NINETEEN CALIFORNIA CITIES JOIN COMMUNITIES NATIONWIDE IN ANNUAL MARCH FOR BABIES® EVENT TO SUPPORT HEALTHIER MOMS AND BABIES
60,000+ Participants Expected to Walk Throughout California in April & May
More than 7 million people in 900 communities throughout all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico will take part in March for Babies®, the premier fundraising event for the March of Dimes.
March for Babies supports cutting-edge research and community-based programs that help moms have full-term, healthy babies. March for Babies has been held annually since 1970, and the event has raised a combined total of $2.3 billion to help all babies get a healthy start in life.
“Funds raised in March for Babies not only support our efforts to build a world of healthier moms and babies, we also fund programs that bring comfort and information to families of babies born too sick or too soon,” said Karyn DeMartini, California State Director of the March of Dimes. “We expect more than 60,000 people, including families, celebrities, elected officials, and corporate supporters to join us for these fun, family-focused events throughout the state.”
Most events include a stage program, disc jockey, a one to 6-mile walk, food vendors, activities for children, and local organization informational booths. Participants are encouraged to register and fundraise via the March for Babies website. The California Golden State Sponsors are Big 5 and Toyota. Our #1 corporate supporter, Kmart, will present celebrity mom and fitness icon Jillian Michaels and her new clothing line at our Los Angeles walk. The Los Angeles walk draws 20,000+ participants.
