The March of Dimes is hosting the 11th annual Women's Health Symposium in partnership with the MCH State Coalition on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at The Innevation Center located at 6795 Edmond St., Las Vegas, NV 89118.
Preterm birth is a serious health problem for newborns. One in eight babies in Nevada are born preterm; some having life-long disabilities due to prematurity. In over half of the cases, healthcare professionals aren't sure why a pregnant mom goes into preterm labor or what causes her to develop a condition that leads to delivering early.
The Women's Health Symposium aims to educate healthcare providers and community leaders on identifying women who are at risk for preterm birth, manage women at risk for preterm birth, and decrease the adverse outcomes associated with preterm birth. Topics will include neonatal abstinence syndrome, tobacco products & pregnancy, FIMR implementation, management of multiple gestations, and many more. For full list of topics, click here.
7.5 CME/CEU accreditation is approved for doctors and nurses.
The March of Dimes Nevada Chapter is also asking participants to make a donation of a baby item (or two!) to be given to pregnant women who are attending one of our educational program sites, such as Stork's Nest, Becoming a Mom, or Coming of the Blessing. Particpants who make a donation will be entered to win some truly fabulous prizes, including a basket from Harry & David, March of Dimes nursing modules, Bed & Bath basket, plus MORE! Your past generosity has been overwhelming with over $2,000 worth of baby items donated to pregnant moms. THANK YOU!
