Our mission
March of Dimes leads the fight for the health of all moms and babies. Today, we're striving to end maternal health risks and death, end preventable preterm birth and infant death, and close the health equity gap. The maternal and infant health crisis is real—but so is our impact. From providing access to quality health care to mobilizing our community to create lasting change for moms and babies, we're ensuring families can get the best possible start.
Key areas of focus
• Increase access to high quality healthcare
• Dismantle racism and address unequal treatment
• Build safe and connected communities
Mission in action
• NICU Family Support® is a premiere program for neonatal intensive care units (NICU), offering staff training and family education to improve the patient experience. Locally, we’re proud to partner with Inova Health System, Children’s National Hospital, and Medstar Franklin Square Hospital to support their NICU families.
• In partnership with University of Maryland Capital Regional Health, March of Dimes brings on-the-ground support, education, and care to women and infants in DC and Maryland through our Mom & Baby Mobile Health Center®.
• In partnership with Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., March of Dimes has several Storks Nests®, an incentive-based prenatal health education program for low-income pregnant women, in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
