Our mission
March of Dimes leads the fight for the health of all moms and babies. Today, we're striving to end maternal health risks and death, end preventable preterm birth and infant death, and close the health equity gap. The maternal and infant health crisis is real—but so is our impact. From providing access to quality health care to mobilizing our community to create lasting change for moms and babies, we're ensuring families can get the best possible start.
Key areas of focus
• Increase access to high quality healthcare
• Build safe and connected communities
Mission in action
• March of Dimes Mom & Baby Mobile Health Centers® bring on-the-ground maternal health programs with services aimed at bringing support, education, and care to moms and moms-to-be, wherever they live. March of Dimes Arizona has one mobile health center that operates in Tucson with University of Arizona, and another that will be operational in Phoenix with Wesley Community & Health Centers and ASU College of Nursing in February 2024.
• NICU Family Support® is the premiere program for neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), offering family education, staff training on family-centered care, and an improved patient experience with the support of March of Dimes experts. The program currently serves two NICUs in Arizona: St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center and Banner - University Medical Center Phoenix.
• March of Dimes in 2023 partnered with Chiuapactli Collective, an organization that supports the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual self-determination of Indigenous people. This partnership offered two Southern Arizona specific trainings that supported 18 birth workers. Eight birth workers of color were also supported to provide eight individuals/families doula services throughout pregnancy, labor and delivery, and postpartum.
