Our mission
March of Dimes leads the fight for the health of all moms and babies. Today, we're striving to end maternal health risks and death, end preventable preterm birth and infant death, and close the health equity gap. The maternal and infant health crisis is real—but so is our impact. From providing access to quality health care to mobilizing our community to create lasting change for moms and babies, we're ensuring families can get the best possible start.
Key areas of focus
• Increase access to high quality healthcare
• Strengthen economic security
• Build safe and connected communities
Mission in action
• In Philadelphia, we’re collaborating with Jefferson Health on launching a March of Dimes Mom & Baby Mobile Health Center® that will bring pregnancy care, testing, and wraparound community support to pregnant and birthing people in under resourced communities. We’re currently seeking funding.
• Local programs for families with babies in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) provide direct support and services when families need us most. There are currently three area hospitals with March of Dimes NICU Family Support® programs: Nemours Children’s Health, ChristianaCare, and Geisinger Medical Center.
• March of Dimes is tirelessly advocating for families. In Pennsylvania, our advocacy efforts support pasteurized human donor milk, paid family leave, workplace protection for pregnant people, midwifery modernization, doula expansion, and maternal mental health screening.
