This September, as part of NICU Awareness Month, March of Dimes is proud to introduce a special new day: March of Dimes NICU Family Support Program Coordinator Awareness Day, celebrated on September 9th. This day recognizes the dedicated individuals who play an essential role in supporting families during their time in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
The NICU Family Support program at March of Dimes is available in more than 70 hospitals across the country, offering emotional and educational support to families with babies in the NICU. NICU Family Support Program Coordinators play a crucial role in guiding families through the NICU journey, offering support and helping them navigate what can be an overwhelming and emotional experience. They provide parents with the resources, education, and care they need to understand their baby’s medical journey and cope with the challenges they may face.
Additionally, NICU Family Support Program Coordinators work closely with healthcare professionals to enhance family-centered care practices. Their efforts improve the overall experience for NICU families, ensuring that both the emotional and practical needs of parents and babies are met. From facilitating supportive group activities to providing educational materials, these coordinators create a supportive and compassionate environment for everyone involved.
On September 9th, we recognize the incredible work of these coordinators. Their dedication to the well-being of NICU families and their collaboration with healthcare staff make a meaningful difference in patient care and outcomes.
As we celebrate NICU Awareness Month, let’s take a moment to honor the unique and impactful role of the March of Dimes NICU Family Support Program Coordinators and the critical services they provide to families in need!
