FUND THE MISSION

Mahalo

Thank you to our Honoree, Executive Leadership Committee, Board Members, Sponsors, Donors, and Volunteers for making this year's March of Dimes Governors' Ball such a successful event. A special Mahalo to Karen Chang and Howard Lee for co-chairing this phenomenal event. Due to your generous support we were able to blow the top off our budget enabling us to help more of Hawaii's littlest keiki.

EVENT DETAILS

The March of Dimes was founded by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1938 to fight the crippling disease of polio.  In an effort to raise money in this battle, President Roosevelt hosted many fundraising President's Birthday Balls at the White House.  From the late 1930's until the mid '50s, over 6,000 fundraising balls were held by community leaders and state governors across the country, including Hawaii's territorial governors, which helped win the war against polio.

With the plague of polio obliterated from the U.S., the March of Dimes applied its proven strategies and turned its attention to a more ambitious mission to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

In 1996, Goverenor Cayetano joined with the March of Dimes to re-establish this historical fundraising event in honor of all the territorial governors and state governors who supported the March of Dimes through the years.

The March of Dimes mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.  The March of Dimes provides vital services to help more than 4 million babies born each year through informational resources, education and support.  Funds raised by this event will support the March of Dimes important national research into the causes, prevention and treatments of birth defects and premature birth as well as their local programs to help Hawaii families.

We hope you will join us for a memorable evening with fabulous food, great auction items and upbeat entertainment as we celebrate one of our premier events offering guests the opportunity to support the March of Dimes and impact the health of babies. We look forward to welcoming you to this year's event and supporting our community!

Mahalo for your support.
