Cultural Competence: An Essential Journey for Perinatal Nurses (2010)

Provides information that assists nurses in caring for the increasingly diverse populations presenting to their practices. Includes basic concepts related to the study of culture, including communication, religion and gender roles, and the application of these concepts in perinatal nursing care. Describes cultural considerations in preconception, prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum and newborn care, including care of preterm and high-risk infants. Addresses disparities in health care and health literacy. 5.3 contact hours will be awarded for this activity unil 12/31/2015.
