Discusses the benefits of breastfeeding for infants, children, mothers, families and society. Describes techniques for supporting the breastfeeding dyad in the preconception, antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum periods. Addresses special conditions, including hyperbilirubinemia, dehydration, weight gain, insufficient milk supply, engorgement and fatigue.
