A statement by March of Dimes’ Interim President and CEO, Cindy Rahman on Melinda French Gates announcement of $250 million in grants focused on women’s health
March of Dimes applauds Melinda French Gates' bold call to action to improve the health and well-being of women around the world. The announcement of $250 million in grant funding comes at a critical time as the US remains the most dangerous high-income nation to have a baby. We agree with Melinda that women’s health is not the priority it needs to be. We believe the health of moms and their babies are deeply intertwined, impacting the health of their families and communities. By improving maternal health outcomes today, we can ensure a healthy tomorrow for every family. This investment in women worldwide will make a profound impact. March of Dimes is excited to join the many organizations that will pursue this opportunity to help expand access to quality maternal care for all women, no matter their geography, race, or income and drive systemic changes that will close the health equity gap for all families.
