Our volunteers, donors and supporters make it possible

The work of the March of Dimes Wisconsin Chapter is made possible by our many volunteers, donors and supporters. Thank you for giving your time and money, and lending your voice to support the health of babies.

Advocate for Wisconsin’s Moms and Babies

The March of Dimes Wisconsin Chapter leads policy and legislative efforts that support our mission of improving the health of women, infants and children by reducing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. The key to that success is the commitment and involvement of our grassroots volunteers in demonstrating to policy makers and legislators how the work that we do saves lives in Wisconsin. Below are details about our current policy priorities and how you can get involved in these efforts.

2014 Wisconsin Advocacy Issues and Priorities

    • NEWBORN SCREENING: March 3, 2014 Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker signed Senate Bill 523, expanding the Department of Health Services (DHS) authority to include additional types of newborn screening methods for all babies born in the State. Click here to read more.
    • FETAL ALCOHOL SYNDROME DISORDER: Won't you help us pass AB 675 relating to evaluation of infants for fetal alcohol spectrum disorder, and referral of infants who have that condition for services or treatment. The Bill has unanimously passed the Assembly Committee of Children and Families, the full Assembly, and the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services. March of Dimes is asking the full Senate to schedule a Senate Floor Vote on AB 675 before the end of the 2013-2014 Legislative Session. Click here to read more about this bill.

Action Needed Now: Please contact your own Senators, and call the following Senate Leadership offices – Senators Fitzgerald, Ellis, Grothman, and Olsen.  Timing is critical and we hope to pass this Bill before the Senate adjourns at the end of the March.

    Donate locally

If you are a long-time March of Dimes supporter or just giving for the first time, we could not work to save babies without the generosity and commitment of people like you. Your donation supports programs in your community that help moms have healthy pregnancies and babies begin healthy lives. And it provides comfort to families with a sick or premature baby.

Our work is made possible by thousands of volunteers. There are many ways to assist us in helping babies, moms and families close to home. You can take part in selling sponsorship opportunities, recruiting new volunteers, coordinating outreach to mission families, serving on our Advocacy and Government Affairs Committee, assisting with marketing communications or public relations and much more.

    Current volunteer opportunities include:

    - Spring Event Planner

    - Spring Fundraising Intern

    - Fall Internship

    - Summer Special Events Intern

Tell us a little about yourself and we’ll find opportunities to help you get involved.
