03/05/2013 MARCH OF DIMES TEXAS CHAPTER AND H-E-B LAUNCH STATEWIDE FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN

H-E-B Campaign Helps Moms and Babies

    Houston, Texas, March 05, 2013 —

H-E-B launches its tearpad fundraising campaign benefitting March of Dimes Texas Chapter and 2013 March for Babies. The campaign, taking place from now until April 1, 2013, offers Texas H-E-B and Central Market customers the opportunity to contribute to the March of Dimes by adding a donation in increments of $1, $3, or $5 to their total grocery bill.

Last year through the March of Dimes tearpad campaign, H-E-B raised more than $310,000 to support March of Dimes March for Babies. With this contribution, along with employee fundraising and sponsorship, H-E-B continues to be the #1 fundraising team in Texas. To locate or find additional information about a participating store, visit heb.com and enter your ZIP code.

“For the fifth year in a row, the prematurity rate has gone down, but we still have a long way to go,” said Winell, Herron, vice president, Public Affairs and Diversity for H-E-B., and a member of the March of Dimes’ Texas State Executive Committee. “March of Dimes’ objective of ensuring that all babies have a chance to grow up strong and healthy is in perfect sync with H-E-B’s goal of providing healthy, fresh foods to Texas families. Working together, we can make a real difference in the life of an unborn child by providing better pre-term information, care and nutrition for his or her mom,” she added.

About March of Dimes Houston Division

In 2013, the March of Dimes celebrates its 75th Anniversary and its ongoing work to help give babies a healthy start in life. March of Dimes-funded research led to the Salk and Sabin polio vaccines that all babies still receive. Other breakthroughs supported by the March of Dimes include new treatments for premature infants and children with birth defects. About 4 million babies are born each year in the United States, and all have benefitted from March of Dimes lifesaving research and education. Healthy Mom, Healthy Baby: The Ultimate Pregnancy Guide was published in January as part of the March of Dimes 75th Anniversary celebration.

The March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health. With chapters nationwide, the March of Dimes works to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
