Megan Branham, Director of Program Services , (803) 403-8522, MBranham@marchofdimes.com

    Columbia, S.C. , April 04, 2012 —

The March of Dimes South Carolina Chapter, in collaboration with Palmetto Healthy Start, and supported by Low Country Healthy Start, Select Health of South Carolina, Inc, and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, announced Wednesday that it is accepting nominations for the 2012 Heroes in the Field award.

Recipients of the Heroes in the Field award will be celebrated at the 2012 Heroes in the Field Luncheon, which will take place in September, Infant Mortality Awareness Month.

To nominate an individual for a Heroes in the Field award, applicants are asked fill out a nomination form, found at marchofdimes.com/southcarolina. Applicants are asked to also provide a summary, of less than 1,000 words, explaining why the nominee is a “Hero in the Field” for preventing infant mortality and prematurity. Submission forms will be accepted by the March of Dimes South Carolina Chapter and Palmetto Healthy Start until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, April 30.

Each year, the South Carolina Chapter of the March of Dimes invests in mission initiatives statewide, including research grants and local community programs.
