One gene closer

About 2 to 3 percent of babies are born with intellectual disabilities. A March of Dimes grantee shows how one altered gene may be a cause. The study is a very early step that may eventually offer a basis for treatment.

Vitamin D vs. preterm birth

Vitamin D deficiency may be one of the reasons why African-American women are more likely to give birth early. If so, a vitamin D regimen may help suppress inflammation from common infections and help women carry to term.
