• During 2012-2014 (average), the very preterm birth rate in Bronx was highest for black (2.4%) and white (1.8%) infants. 
• Black infants (2.4%) were 2 times as likely as Asian/Pacific Islander infants (1.2%) to be born very preterm during 2012-2014 (average). 
• Very premature babies who survive may suffer lifelong consequences, including cerebral palsy, blindness and other chronic conditions.
