Kangaroo care in the NICU, part 2: Understanding the impact of kangaroo care beyond neonatal vital signs

Builds on Kangaroo care in the NICU, part 1. Presents clinical scenarios related to kangaroo care that require critical thinking and clinical expertise to answer. Focuses on the impact of kangaroo care beyond neonatal vital signs, including parental engagement and strategies to incorporate kangaroo care in your own practice. Evidence-based rationale and biobehavioral mechanisms of kangaroo care that support practice decisions are provided, along with directions for applying the knowledge gained from the clinical scenarios.
