March of Dimes Names 2014 Foothills Division Board
Hickory, North Carolina, February 14, 2014
The Foothills Division of March of Dimes is proud to announce their 2014 Board Members, including Drew Isenhour, Area President for Republic Services of NC – as the 2014 Board Chairman.
“As a business leader, serving as the chairman of the March of Dimes Board gives me a unique opportunity to help the communities where our Republic Services families and customers are living,” says Isenhour. “And as a Father, I can’t think of a more important cause than our babies.” Isenhour went on to say, “One in eight of our babies here in North Carolina are born premature, and that’s just not acceptable. Our goal is that every one of our babies is born healthy – it can be a reality, but it takes leaders in our community working together to make it happen.” Isenhour will be joined by a board of more than 10 local business leaders, change agents and mission affected families. The 2014 Foothills board is comprised of:
Ryan Nawrocki- Nawrocki Consulting Services
Amy Bell- JC Penny Logistics
Jennifer Queen- Martin Starnes
Pat Stevens- Retired CVMC
Joanna Viola- HSM Solutions
Carrie Watts- Wattsy World Racing
Gene Gendricks- Broyhill Asset Management
Beth Rogers- Renaissance Financial
Tom Taylor- Breen Color
Isenhour joined GDS in March 1988. GDS was purchased by Republic Services in 1995. He became Area President of Republic Services of NC in March 2000. Republic Services of NC has 35 locations. In 2012 he took over Virginia and Maryland as well. He has served as a board member and president of Solid Waste Association of North America North Carolina Chapter, board member and past president of North Carolina Big Sweep, board member of Catawba County United Way. He is a current board member of North Carolina Chamber of Commerce. He serves on the steering committee of National Solid Waste Management Association Carolina’s Chapter and is President of the Consistory and Congregation at Church of the Master United Church of Christ where he has been a member all of his life.
This is Isenhour’s third year on the Foothills Division of March of Dimes Board. He serves as the Chair of the annual March of Dimes Executive Golf Tournament and served as March for Babies Chairman in 2011 and 2012.
“We’re so excited to have Drew on board to lead the division,” says Former Board Chair, Ryan Nawrocki. “His passion for the cause and commitment to helping our babies will be a huge driving factor in the success of our events and programs this year. We are grateful for the time and support he is able to lend us.”
Isenhour is a resident of Hickory. He and his wife, Beth have four children. They enjoy traveling and spending time in their mountain house in Jefferson, NC.
“I am thankful to have a strong group of leaders working with me in the Foothills Division,” said Isenhour. I’d like to welcome back tour returning board members and give a special welcome to our newest member, Tom Taylor, who is president of Breen Color.”
In 2013, the March of Dimes celebrated its 75th Anniversary and its ongoing work to help babies get a healthy start in life. Early research led to the Salk and Sabin polio vaccines that all babies still receive. Other breakthroughs include new treatments for premature infants and children with birth defects. About 4 million babies are born each year in the United States, and all have benefited from March of Dimes lifesaving research and education.
