Jim and Sandra Miller named 2013 Hickory Signature Chefs Auction Co-Chairs
Conover, North Carolina, October 04, 2013
The Carolina Foothills Division of March of Dimes is delighted to announce accomplished Owner and President of SLM Medical Transcription Services, Sandra Miller and Jim Miller, Vice President-Business Development for R-Anell Homes, as the 2013 Hickory Signature Chefs Auction Co-Chairs.
“If you have ever been touched by a family who has struggled through a premature birth or severe birth defects that alone is reason enough to support the March of Dimes and participate in their Signature Chefs Auction,” said Jim Miller. “The March of Dimes foundation is celebrating their 75th Anniversary this year, and they have definitely earned our support.”
The 2013 Hickory Signature Chefs Auction will feature the culinary talents of area’s finest local chefs and restaurants. Attendees will be able to sample signature dishes from 10 local chefs while bidding on unique and tempting silent and live auction packages, all to benefit the March of Dimes mission. The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. The March of Dimes carries out this mission through programs of research, community services, education and advocacy.
“Jim loves a challenge, and there is no one who will work harder than this man,” stated Tom Taylor, Fund the Mission Chair. “After losing his son to ALS and successfully fundraising for the Catfish Hunter Chapter for ALS with his two daughters each year, this was a natural fit for Jim and he has done a remarkable job for the March of Dimes.”
The Signature Chefs Auction will be held on Thursday, November 7 from 6:00 p.m. – 9 p.m. For more information, contact Kayla Moose at KMoose@marchofdimes.org or directly at 828-464-8905-424-2169. Alternatively connect with March of Dimes on Facebook at facebook.com/MarchOfDimesNorthCarolina
In 2013, the March of Dimes celebrates its 75th anniversary and its ongoing work to help babies get a healthy start in life. Early research led to the Salk and Sabin polio vaccines that all babies still receive. Other breakthroughs include new treatments for premature infants and children with birth defects. About 4 million babies are born each year in the United States, and all have benefited from March of Dimes lifesaving research and education.
