    March for Babies Ambassador Families

We are very proud to announce the March of Dimes Nevada Chapter's northern and southern Ambassador families:  The Hara family and the Mott-White family.

Harper was born at 32 weeks, almost two months early, because her mom was becoming ill.  Harper was lucky and had good doctors and nurses who took care of her, so she could be healthy and go home after 18 days in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

Harper is now a very bright, beautiful, and active 6 year old who loves her stuffed bunny, Roosevelt.

The Hara family has been walking in March for Babies for 6 years, and have raised over $7,000 to give moms and babies a health start.

On December 29, 2010, Stephanie Mott gave birth to her twins at 24 weeks.  Shelby was born weighing 1 lb, 5 oz, and Colby was 1 lb, 8 oz.  A little over a week after they were born, the family received a call that their daughter, Shelby, needed to have emergency surgery due to a perforation in her bowel.  Although the doctors did all they could, Shelby passed away peacefully on January 6, 2011.

Almost a week after Shelby passed, the family received a call that their son, Colby, also had a perforation in his bowel and needed emergency surgery.  Fortunately, his surgery went well and things began to settle down.  After several months in the NICU, they were finally able to take Colby home, but it was bittersweet without Shelby.

Colby is now 4 years old, and has continued to thrive.  He talks up a storm, and amazingly has no delays.  He has expressed interest in becoming a train conductor when he grows up.

The Mott-White family reside in Reno, NV.  This is their fourth year walking in March for Babies.
