Nurse of the Year nominations are due July 1, 2014.Edina, MN, May 05, 2014
Recognize outstanding nurses in Minnesota at the fifth annual Nurse of the Year Awards. March of Dimes is launching the call for nominations during Nurses Week May 6 – May 12.
From the very youngest of patients in newborn intensive care units to the elderly in hospice, nurses protect our health, work to prevent injury, alleviate suffering and advocate for our care. Nurse of the Year Awards are a way to say thank you and honor selflessness, dedication and passion for the profession of nursing.
“Through this event, March of Dimes celebrates the great passion, knowledge, diversity and dedication of nurses throughout the state of Minnesota,” said event chair Cheryl Douglas, nurse manager at Fairview Southdale Hospital. “Nurses touch everyone at some point in their lives. Nominating a nurse is a great way to say ‘thank you for being there for me’. Nurse of the Year also supports the mission of March of Dimes in helping premature and sick babies and their families. With the research that March of Dimes supports many families now have very happy endings.”
Patients, families and colleagues are encouraged to nominate nurses in 16 categories. A new category added in 2014 is Innovative and Non-Traditional Nursing. It honors nurses who work in informatics, holistic/integrative healing and global/humanitarian nursing.
Say thank you to the thousands of Minnesota nurses who make all of our lives a little easier. Nominations are due by July 1, 2014. Complete details and nomination forms can be found at marchofdimes.com/minnesota.
