Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Awareness Day 2013
Atlanta, Georgia, August 14, 2013
Governor Nathan Deal proclaims September 9, 2013 as Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders Awareness Day in the state of Georgia.
"Most people are not aware of the challenges that these children and care givers will be faced with as they age. And to know that their challenges were preventable. More education, support and public awareness is needed, not just to prevent an [Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder], but to support the families impacted and teach interventions to help these families help their children," said Melissa Jacobus Cook, adoptive mother impacted by the challenges of FASDs.
