Be Healthy - Every Woman Florida

The March of Dimes Florida Chapter has been working closely with the Florida Department of Health on the Every Woman Florida Preconception Health Initiative.

Preconception health, the health of a woman before she becomes pregnant, has been recognized as one of the key factors in improving a mother’s and baby’s health during and after pregnancy. Improving preconception health translates into healthier women, pregnancies and birth outcomes.

The Division of Family Health Services, Bureau of Family and Community Health is proud to present Florida's first preconception health indicator report entitled: "Preconception Health: An Issue for Every Woman of Childbearing Age in Florida."

This report provides a comprehensive look at the status of preconception health among Florida’s women of childbearing age in ten different health areas or domains from health care to chronic diseases, from infections to mental health. It also examines how Florida compares to the United States, compares over time, and compares among different socio-demographic groups. The report is intended to both educate health care providers and the public and to serve as a resource in planning strategies and activities to improve preconception health in Florida.

With the vision of a healthier Florida, it is the goal of the Every Woman Florida project to help all women reach an optimal level of health. Visit everywomanfl.com to explore reasons for a healthier lifestyle and for information on how to do so.
