Helping moms and babies in Florida

The March of Dimes Florida Chapter funds programs that help moms have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies. This includes providing financial support to research and education that will help moms before and during their pregnancies. It also includes working with local medical groups and organizations to improve prenatal care and newborn screening.

Chapter Grants and Community Awards are given to projects that address the urgent needs of moms and babies. Chapter Grants are generally awarded for one to three years and range from $25,000 to $100,000. Community Awards are generally awarded for one year up to $3,000.

The March of Dimes Florida Chapter uses gifts wisely. We award grants based on a number of criteria, including the group or organization’s ability to accomplish its goals, as well as the potential impact a project will have in helping us prevent premature births, birth defects and infant mortality.

March of Dimes Seeks Submission of Letter of Intent (LOI) for Chapter Grants to give “A FIGHTING CHANCE FOR EVERY BABY” – Applications due August 7, 2015

March of Dimes Florida Chapter is seeking applications for their Chapter Grants to support programs that address unmet maternal and child health needs. Awarding grants to organizations is one of the ways the March of Dimes pursues its mission of improving the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.

The goal of the Chapter Grants program is to identify and fund community-based programs addressing the health concerns of pregnant women and infants in Florida. They must also fall under our 2015 funding priorities. Applicant must provide services in Florida. The chapter grants fund for 2015 is approximately $177,806. It is anticipated that several projects will be funded, with grants starting at a minimum of $25,000 each.

Letters of Intent are being accepted until August 7, 2015. Invitation to submit a full proposal will occur on August 21, 2015. For those chosen to submit full Proposal, the deadline for the full proposal will be September 30, 2015. Grantees will be notified on November 9, 2015. The grant period extends from December 1, 2015 to December 30, 2016.

Download the Letter of Intent application and the full list of funding priority areas.

For more information or questions, contact Sharetta Remikie or call (321) 274-8686.

    Community Awards

The goal of the community awards program is to give attention to significant maternal and child health issues, such as access to prenatal care, family planning and preconception health, and will contribute to healthy maternal-infant outcomes in our Florida.

In 2015, the March of Dimes Florida Chapter presented 14 awards. Click here to learn more.
