SammyB Ambassador Team for Sussex County 2014

    Rehoboth Beach, DE, March 13, 2014 —

    Samuel Bell

    Born April 19, 2011

    12 weeks too soon

    3 lbs  1 oz.

Early in the morning of August 19th, 2011, nothing was going to stop Samuel Bell from entering the world. Unfortunately, August 19th was just over 11 weeks before his due date; so Sam, at 3lbs 1oz, was considered a high-risk preemie. After trying without success to stop the contractions, the hospital staff had to perform an emergency c-section upon discovering the umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck. He only got to touch his dad’s finger before he was whisked away into his incubator and the NICU, where he would spend his first 9½ weeks of his life. Though we had many ups and downs, he was mostly healthy and just needed to grow, and of course, to learn to breathe and eat. He charmed all the nurses as he grew to be was one of the biggest babies there (7lbs!). We are thankful every day for that miracle, and especially that he has thrived since, growing to be a very happy, healthy, and rambunctious toddler.
